I spend many an hour searching for bits and bobs for the house, mostly it’s late night internet scrolling but sometimes I even leave the house and venture into REAL shops! Sometimes they are things we need or are looking to change at home. Sometimes its just for the sheer enjoyment of it! Currently my attention has been on dining room chairs so here we have it, 5 of the best affordable dining room chair options i’ve found.
When I say ‘5 of the best’ in the blog title this is obviously down to personal preference, (you may not agree and thats ok) but in my mind what I will feature are the best for a few reasons – mainly cost, as affordability is my thing! And practicality, in my opinion there’s no use having something in your home that isn’t practical and doesn’t serve it’s purpose, especially when it’s a family home! Cream upholstered dining room chairs + kids with sticky fingers just isn’t a good combination in my opinion!
I may sometimes throw in a little splurge item though, again just for the sheer enjoyment of it!!
So here we go, this weeks focus is on 5 of the best: Affordable dining room chairs. An item that if your home is anything like mine, they are a heavily used and abused item so need to work hard for their keep!
No. 1 – The Eames Style Dining Chair
Based on the famous Eames plastic chair, it was created in 1950 by designers Charles & Ray Eames who wanted to create an icon that would stand the test of time. It’s ability to lend itself to different surroundings, it’s durability and the ease of cleaning were it’s successes back then and still now.
These are the style chairs we currently have in our dining area and I love them for the above reasons, with young children they are a godsend as they are wipe down, invaluable if you ask me,!! They are also really comfortable and hard wearing!

Take a look at the Eiffel chair from onlyhome.co.uk based on the Eames style chair, they come in a whole host of colours and at £48.75 each I think they are really well priced.
No. 2 – The Wishbone Chair
Another style icon is the Wishbone chair by danish designer Hans Wenger created in 1949. Coveted for its simple lines and timelessness it’s another one that has stood the test of time and been in production for 70 years now!

Take a look at the Wishbone style dining chair from Cult Furniture with a solid beech frame and paper cord seat which comes in a selection of colours and priced at £139.
No. 3 The Rattan Dining Chair
We’ve seen a huge resurgence in wicker and rattan furniture recently and it’s become a staple in a lot of homes. Popular in the 60’s & 70’s its definitely back and here to stay I think!

Take a look at these Rattan dining chairs from Dunelm made from metal legs and woven rattan they look super comfy and are priced at £169 for a pair.
No. 4 – the Industrial Style Dining Chair
Years ago industrial furniture would refer to an item that had been designed to serve a purpose but not necessarily built for comfort or style. Fast forward to present day and it’s now about how history meets modern day requirements. Comfort and durability are now essential elements.

Take a look at the industrial style Fournier dining chair from Wayfair With a metal frame and wooden seat they come on four different colours and are £99.99 each.
No. 5 The Splurge!
Ok this one is the over budget item that I’m adding for the sheer fun of it, but the one I would have in a heartbeat if funds allowed. Scalloped furniture is big news for 2020, the softer edges and Art Deco feel add a little luxe to your interiors. These could work as an occasional chair, dressing table chair or they could grace either end of your dining table (just watch our for those sticky fingers!!)
Take at look at these scalloped velvet chairs in three different colour ways from Rose & Grey costing £350, hence the splurge item, but they are oh so beautiful and definitely worthy of a little feature on here, pure eye candy!
So there we have it, 5 of the best: affordable dining room chairs! I hope this has been helpful, or maybe just a nice little read! Let me know if there are any other items you would like me to research, I’m always happy to take on a little more late night interiors scrolling!!
Thanks for reading!
